Damon Schechter
Chief Executive Officer
Damon is responsible for driving the vision and strategy of Shipwire, as well as the operations. He brings fifteen years of experience as an entrepreneur, business manager, and R&D leader. Prior to starting Shipwire, Damon hired a Pulitzer-nominated coauthor and wrote bestseller Delivering the Goods: The Art of Managing Your Supply Chain (J. Wiley & Sons; 2002). Prior to being an author, Damon was an active investor and advisor to more than 30 startups in the areas of ecommerce and supply chain management. Prior to becoming an investor, Damon managed the flagship product family for Cobalt Networks. As product manager, Damon developed the first successful web and ecommerce servers and helped Cobalt grow into a worldwide leader in the category, culminating in a successful IPO and acquisition by Sun Microsystems for $2B. Prior to Cobalt, Damon was a consultant, creating the first supply chain Internet-applications for Sun Microsystems, Ryder System, and the U.S. Air Force. Evan Robinson
Chief Technology Officer
Evan is responsible for the architecture and development of the Shipwire platform. Previously Evan spent six years at Yahoo!, where he served as a lead of Yahoo! Autos, one of Yahoo!’s most profitable divisions. During his tenure, Evan played a number of key roles in the growth of the Autos property from a basic classifieds site to a consistently top-ranked automotive information and community hub. Evan variously oversaw Yahoo! Autos’ listing and data systems, site operations, enthusiast platform, and long-term infrastructure roadmap. Prior to Yahoo!, Evan spent four years at DoubleClick (formerly NetGravity), where he helped design, develop and maintain the Internet’s leading online advertising management software solution. He holds a B.S. in Computer Science from MIT. Evan and his wife, Danielle, have been married for four years. The Robinsons have two children.
Saul Smith
Chief Logistics Officer
Saul has responsibility for Shipwire’s global network of warehouses, as well as the movement of goods from their point of origin, to Shipwire warehouses, and ultimately to the consumer. Saul brings over 20 years of operations leadership experience to Shipwire. Previously, Saul was senior vice president of operations at Superba, Inc., where he established and managed growth of factories and warehouses for this international necktie manufacturer, with more than $200 million in revenues. His career there spanned more than two decades, during which time he built the Superba campus, designed the plant and warehouse layouts, implemented a distribution system stretching across four continents, and managed over 600 employees across multiple warehouse locations. On the power of its supply chain, Superba became the largest and most prosperous necktie company operating today in the United States, and was recently acquired by the Phillips Van-Heusen Corporation, a multi-Billion dollar apparel conglomerate. Saul’s mantra is to “treat every customer order, regardless of size or frequency, as though it may be our last.” Saul has been married for fourteen years. He and his wife, Susan, have 4 children.
Nate Gilmore
Vice President of Marketing and Business Development
Nate oversees our channel development and developer network, as well as our marketing and public relations. Previously, Nate was at Concentric, acquired by XO Communications, where he ran product management, sales and marketing. Over his six year career with Concentric, he developed dozens of new business channels, by initiating new products for small- and mid- size businesses, developing partner programs for those products, and working with web developers and systems integrators to provide ongoing support of those products. Nate has also held various legal positions in intellectual property and business law. He holds a B.A. in History, and a J.D., from Santa Clara University.
Alex Sverdlik
Director of Sales and Support
Alex manages our customer relationships, including sales, consulting, training, and support. He is also responsible for our ongoing customer satisfaction program, whereby we generate a satisfaction score for each customer, so we can proactively remedy any problems before they surface. Prior to Shipwire, Alex spent 17 years handling complex financial transactions as a financial advisor. He managed over $40 million in assets for more than 400 small business owners. Alex has been married for seven years. He and his wife, Naomi, have three children.

David Becker
David is a Managing Director of Meakem Becker Venture Capital, and has been a Director of Shipwire since June 2007. He previously served as a member of the leadership team of FreeMarkets, Inc., then the leading provider of internet deployed software and services for automating the sourcing processes of Global 1000 companies. As the Chief Operating Officer of FreeMarkets, Dave managed all operations for the company including software development and service delivery during the company’s growth from $8 million to almost $200 million of revenue and to over 1,200 employees based around the world. Dave was also a key member of the team that brought the company public in 1999. Dave’s early professional experience includes financial and management roles for Dole Fresh Fruit International in Costa Rica, where he managed a team that developed and ran a global information network that became the backbone of Dole Latin America’s logistics and supply chain management systems. Dave holds a B.S. with high distinction in chemical and petroleum refining engineering from the Colorado School of Mines and an M.S. in chemical engineering from West Virginia College of Graduate Studies (now Marshall University). In 1991, Dave received his M.B.A. from Harvard University. His pioneering work on e-commerce methods and inventions has resulted in eight U.S. patents. Dave and his wife, Gail, have been married for fifteen years and have three children.
Glen Meakem
Glen become a Director of Shipwire in June 2007. As a co-founder of Meakem Becker Venture Capital, he has earned a national reputation as a new economy leader and innovator. His success as an entrepreneur has been accompanied by a strict code of personal and professional ethics, and an ability to build strong teams of likeminded individuals. Glen’s entry into the venture capital industry was preceded by a widely chronicled role as co-founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of FreeMarkets, Inc., which was the leading provider of internet deployed software and services for automating the sourcing processes of Global 1000 companies. Glen and his team took FreeMarkets public in late 1999, and after growing the company significantly through the post bubble technology recession, sold the company to Ariba, Inc. (NASDAQ: ARBA) in 2004 for approximately $500 million. Glen graduated A.B. cum laude from Harvard University in 1986, and later earned his M.B.A. from Harvard Business School in 1992 after returning from the First Gulf War — where he volunteered for active duty as a platoon leader. His pioneering work on e-commerce methods and inventions has resulted in eight U.S. patents. Glen and his wife, Diane, have been married for seventeen years. The Meakems have five children.
